- Characteristics: the American Black bear is a plantigrade (an animal which walks in a flat-footed manner) and lives both in forests and in the mountains. It weighs between 120 and 200 kg and is nearly 2m tall. The female is much smaller than the male.
- Meal: it has an omnivorous diet, which varies according to the season and includes soft grass, fruit, wild game and fish.
- Anecdote: it is quite a sociable animal and loves swimming and playing in water
