- Characteristics:this is the world’s tallest mammalia, with some males reaching more than 5 m in height and more than a tonne in weight. Giraffes live in groups of several individuals and after a gestation period of 15 months, the female gives birth to a young giraffe which is between 1 and 2m tall.
- Meal: Its long, grey, prehensile tongue tears acacia leaves off the tops of trees up to 6 m above the ground.
