Characteristics : also known as a river horse, this amphibious herbivore spends half of its life in calm shallow ater because it is a poor swimmer.
Gestation period : 8 months – gives birth to one young which it suckles for 4 – 6 months.
Anecdote: its canines from very sharp dangerous tusks which can grow to a length of 50 cm
